Tim Raymond

9th January 2016

Tim studied at the Royal College of Music and at the universities of London, Keele, Reading and Aberdeen

Tim Raymond (b.1953) studied at the Royal College of Music with John Lambert and at the universities of London, Keele, Reading and Aberdeen.

Venues as diverse as De Ijsbreker (Amsterdam), Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, cathedrals of Ghent and Hartford (USA), Wales Millennium Centre and the Cheltenham Festival have featured his work.

In 2010, BBC National Orchestra of Wales gave the first performance of Dreaming of Easter (‘beautiful and exciting use of instrumental colour…its shifting moods are quite haunting’- Robert Spearing). Alleluia on the Pipes (organ), premièred at Scotland’s 2011 sound festival, was noted for its ‘startling sound contrasts’ and ‘splendidly exciting and imaginative toccata …elaborate and challenging’ (Alan Cooper, The Herald).

Tim was Head of Composition and Contemporary Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama from 1994 to 2009. He is published by Edition HH Ltd.
