Originally from Alnwick, Ruth Karn lived in various parts of England before moving to York in 1993, which she considers to be her spiritual home. She learnt the piano as a young child but, by her own admission, has always been a reclusive pianist. She is a self-taught composer and despite being a bit of a late starter, she has written various piano pieces, songs and choral works whilst juggling professional, family and caring commitments. Ruth writes intuitively, finding particular inspiration for her music in people, places and events. In 2020 two of her choral works (Catch Me When I’m Falling and Five Sisters) were published by Stainer & Bell. https://stainer.co.uk/introducing-ruth-karn
